                            OMBTT CLASSIC FISH CARE SUGGESTIONS:
(ESPECIALLY IF TRAILERING FROM ST JEAN TO ELIZABETH)
Depending on the length of run by truck or boat, water conditions (both clarity and wave) as well as water temps, you can do a lot to ensure the viability of your catch up to and including the weigh-in each day.

Consider using the foam pool noodles cut up into appropriate widths that match the surface area of your livewell. They will cushion the fish from rough water runs etc. We also have a drain plug in our boat to insert into our livewell overflow opening so we can fill our livewells closer to the lid. Remember you will have to switch your livewell to recirculate when it is full or your boat will fill up water.

Use livewell treatments, kosher salt is fine for this purpose as it is what’s used by most DNR’s. Commercial additives are fine as well but salts cheap. NEVER use more than the recommended concentration, too much of a good thing isn’t. If using kosher salt (non-iodized salt) a maximum 5% by volume solution is best, of course you’ll need to know the capacity of your livewell which is easily determine by pre-filling with a 5-gallon bucket and noting same on the underside of your lid/s. If you have a oxygenator you can only use certain additives. G Juice is most commonly used.

Ideally, you’ll leave your livewell aerator run constantly when you’ve reached your boat limit or at least set the minimum off time with timed aerators.

On runs longer than 20 minutes, take time to stop and refresh your wells with new water before proceeding on.

Learn how to “fizz your catch”, instructions are on the website. Fish in distress are those that cannot maintain equilibrium and float on their side while in the livewell. Your other option is: Fin Clips. Designed as an alternative to fizzing, the Fin Clips gently attach to the anal and pelvic fins of fish to keep them upright, allowing their swim bladder to deflate naturally.

Remember, fish care is your responsibility and your success at same is easily apparent to the weigh-in crew in how they (the fish) present themselves for weight.

OMBTT CLASSIC ALTERNATE LAUNCH RAMP (Regardless of weather conditions): (ST JEAN)

• Hours OF Operation: 5:00am - 8:00pm
There are two options when paying....Daily Rate and Seasonal Pass. Under "HOW LONG WILL YOU BE PARKED?" There is a drop down menu. Please make sure if you are only doing the daily rate that you select that option.
And yes, the QR Reader below works if you point your phone to it. Skip the line and pay before you get there. It's that simple. Show your receipt at the gate.

• For the angler's safety after the experience of 2022's classic and the extreme wave height in the miracle mile area. we decided to have 2 launch locations. We also hope this will entice other teams to come to our classic with not having as much potential of long rough water runs. We have also thought of the advantage that the teams could have by launching at this secondary location and have adjusted their hours accordingly.
1.) Teams choosing to utilize the St Jean launch site will take off at same starting time as the rest of the competitors.
2.) We will have staff as well as a ramp master who will check your livewell at launch and at check in.
3.) St Jean teams must be on the trailer and ready to leave St Jean for Elizabeth Ramp 1 hour before the end of tournament hours. There is no exception if you are late dump your fish. This is the chance you take by using this option.
4.) If you use the St Jean ramp to launch then you use the St Jean ramp to check in. If you do not check in at the St Jean ramp your catch will be disqualified.
5.) Fish care is your responsibility so be sure to prepare and utilize the information above to keep from losing any fish. Remember a dead fish cannot be used for big bass or a tie breaker.
6.) There is a possibility that you may have to pay a launch fee at Elizabeth Ramp too when you arrive to weigh your fish. It is out of my control and that too is the price you may pay using this option. Do not argue with the attendant if they do indeed charge you.
